ABOUT

JOLLY GOOD

MUSICALS

Founded in 2023 by Gabrielle Rawlings, Michael Mulvenna and Jeremy Kindl, Jolly Good Musicals is a small, passionate company dedicated to bringing hilarious, heartwarming and utterly delightful musicals to Sydney's stages.

Jolly Good Musicals draws its name from the company’s founders: Jeremy, Gabrielle and Michael. (The most important use of the rule of three in the last century, in our opinion.)

The trio bonded while working on a production of Spamalot in 2017. Following a successful run as the key team behind UTS Backstage's Heathers in 2018, they kept a good thing going, and after a few bumps (*cough* COVID *cough*) JGM was born.

JGM aims to showcase original productions, offbeat shows and reimagined classics, while offering a platform for Sydney talent to shine.

We believe that live theatre should provide an escape from the everyday, so JGM is dedicated to bringing music, laughter and a healthy dash of the unexpected to Sydney’s independent musical theatre scene.

Jeremy has spent his youth in pursuit of the gnarliest chords and musical merriment.

Since graduating from the Conservatorium of Music in Clarinet Performance, he has continued to perform theatre and teach music. Directing choirs, conducting musical theatre, chamber music and comedy cabarets are Jeremy’s musical passions.

Highlights include music directing Parade and The Addams Family at the Seymour Centre, Seussical The Musical at the Roslyn Packer Theatre and Footloose at The Concourse. He has also directed several choral groups and his acapella arrangements are performed internationally.

Jeremy first met Michael and Gabrielle in 2017 while music directing at university, and knew their productions were something special!

While Gabrielle is no stranger to the stage, she found her place behind the creative table during her time at university.

As the former UTS Backstage President, she oversaw and featured in the Australian premiere of The Frogs, before going on to direct and choreograph a number of shows, including UTS Backstage’s Heathers and Spamalot, MUSE's The Drowsy Chaperone and Freaky Friday, and of course, A Jolly Good Musical. More recently she reignited her love for performing as Chloe in NSTC’s Be More Chill and Gabriella in HHT’s Boeing Boeing.

Gabrielle believes theatre is a powerful tool for storytelling and community building, and hopes she doesn’t have to build a website again for a long time.

As the resident “M” of Jolly Good Musicals, Michael is incredibly excited for all the unique and quirky shows to come.

Michael’s credits behind the scenes include writing and producing A Jolly Good Musical, and producing UTS Backstage’s Heathers and 99 Again. His string of performances on stage otherwise keep his finger on the zeitgeist, with recent roles as Bernard in HHT’s Boeing Boeing, Mr Mushnik in NSTC’s Little Shop of Horrors and Mr Heere in NSTC’s Be More Chill.

Michael’s vision and goal for JGM is a simple one. Create interesting and offbeat shows with just plain good people. He believes performances come to life when the cast, crew and band enjoy every minute of their time in rehearsals and on stage. He can’t wait to show you what’s next.

Jolly Good Musicals acknowledges the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and the land on which we work and live, the Gadigal People of the Eora Nation. We recognise their continuing connection to lands, waters and communities, and pay our respects to Elders past and present. We celebrate the stories, culture and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders of all communities who also work and live on this land.
